Writer, Director, Producer and "Shy" - Silas Howard ( writer, director, and musician), co-directed her first feature with Harry Dodge, By Hook Or By Crook, in 2002. This narrative buddy movie, likened to Midnight Cowboy, garnered numerous awards both nationally and internationally. By Hook or By Crook was selected for Sundance 2002 and continues to air on the Sundance Channel. The movie received a limited theatrical release with Artistic License and national video/DVD distribution with Wolf video.   

Silas’s new feature script, Exactly Like You, (co-written with Nina Landley), won a fellowship with the Nantucket Screenwriters Colony 2004 and was a finalist for the 2004 Sundance Filmmaker’s lab. The project is in currently in development at HBO with producer Effie T. Brown ( In The Cut, Real Women, Everyday People ) and Ernesto Foronda ( Better Luck Tomorrow, Fast and Furious 3 ) under Brown's company, Duly Noted.

Silas Howard performed nationally and internationally with her band, Tribe 8, for over eight years. The band has been featured in the following periodicals: Rolling Stone, Village Voice, Interview, Billboard, Elle and The Los Angeles Times.  

Silas Howard is currently in the UCLA graduate directing program. Her narrative short, Frozen Smile, was recently picked up for distribution and her most recent short documentary, What I Love About Dying , was selected for Sundance 2006.
